REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS (RFP)

Theme: “Women Together – Fighting on the Front Line”

The AAUW-PA Retreat Planning Team welcomes proposals for presentations relating to our theme:  “Women Together – Fighting on the Front Line.” The Committee solicits the broadest representation from the AAUW-PA membership and welcomes proposals from Branch members, student affiliates, scholars, community activists, women and gender researchers, legislative/business partners, and inter-generational practitioners. Proposals that support AAUW’s Mission, public policy priorities, and reflect our theme, “Women Together – Fighting on the Front Line,” are particularly welcome:

  • Economic Security – Women’s Pay Equity and Living Wage;
  • Healthcare – Comprehensive and equitable healthcare access for women and families;
  • Legislation – Activists for legislative representation on women’s issues;
  • Education – Title IX equity, sports, STEM opportunities, community action-grants
  • Advocacy – GOTV, get out the vote, grassroots advocacy for women’s issues
  • Prevention from Abuse – grassroots efforts to end domestic violence, racial bias, and persistent gender/gender-identity bias in Pennsylvania and beyond;
  • Equity/Diversity/Inclusion – projects in the grassroots community, in local businesses, K-12 and higher education focused on re-imagining cultural inclusion in a hybrid world.

GUIDELINES.

  • Generally, presentations are limited to 25 minutes. Exceptions may be made and more time given for sessions requiring more to provide a comprehensive experience.
  • All persons whose proposals are selected for inclusion in the program are expected to register for and attend the retreat. Student registration is free.
  • Presenters are encouraged to bring their Branch members and AAUW Student Affiliates.
  • Proposers must be willing to present in person, should their proposals be accepted.
  • AAUW-PA does not provide travel expenses for accepted presenters, though Branches are encouraged to provide funds for their member’s presentation.

A complete proposal should incLude the following:

  • The proposal title and format (i.e. individual or group presentation, panel, or other);
  • A 100-word description of the session;
  • A description of how the proposal meets a public policy criteria listed in the RFP above;
  • A list of required audio-visual equipment needed;
  • Contact information for the lead presenter: Name, Branch, address, email, phone & brief bio;
  • A list of all personnel involved in the presentation with brief bios (approximately 50 words);

DEADLINE.  Proposals are welcome and encouraged by the deadline of March 1, 2023.  Accepted proposers will be notified by March 15 and confirmation of participation is required by April 1, 2023.
